Carol was born January 20, 1934, in Watertown, Wisconsin, daughter of Walter and Selma (nee Braeger) Kaddatz. On February 18, 1934, she was born again through the washing of Holy Baptism when the Holy Spirit washed away all her sins and planted saving faith in her heart. At her confirmation on March 30, 1947, Carol promised to be faithful even unto death, and by grace alone she kept that promise. After graduating from Watertown High School in 1951, she entered nursing school at Milwaukee Hospital and graduated in 1955. Carol married Rev. Harold Schroeter on May 11, 1957, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. Their marriage was blessed with three children: James, Alan, and Judith. During her nursing career, Carol worked at several hospitals located in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, Garland, Texas, Sheboygan, Wisconsin and San Antonio, Texas, based on where the Lord directed her husband’s calling. Later in life, Carol worked for a family physician in San Antonio.
On Thursday, July 20, 2023, in love and wisdom, the Lord called Carol home to heaven after a brief illness. She is survived by her children, James (Shelly) of Garland, Texas, and Judith (Gregory) of Arlington, Virginia; as well as 7 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Harold, and her son, Alan.
Confirmation verse: Matthew 28:20. “Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
