Betty Collier

September 28, 1942 — November 27, 2022

Our Beloved Mother, Betty Jewel Collier was born on September 28, 1942 in Jonesboro, Louisiana, the 2nd born of 5 children to the late Vill and Vester Williams. Betty accepted Jesus Christ at a very early age and was baptized.  She was a devoted servant who loved the Lord. She graduated from Shady Grove High School, where she was a “majorette” with the dance team. She was a faithful member of Resurrection Baptist Church where she sang in the choir.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 30 years, James Collier. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. Spending time with her husband, raising her children and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was one of her greatest joys and that which earned her the well-deserved title of the family matriarch. She cherished her family and friends and gave of herself so selfishly and unconditionally. Her special gift of friendship and compassion was extended to anyone she encountered and her beautiful smile touched and uplifted many. Betty had a beautiful voice and a passion for gospel music.

She leaves to cherish her memories, husband, James Collier, one son, James (Michelle) Knox Jr, four daughters, Turquita (Hyle) Roberts, Barbara Knox (William), Tylena Knox (Eli) of San Antonio and Houston Texas, Jacqueline (Larry) Price of Las Vegas, Nevada; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, sisters Thelma Williams and Bobby (Ladell) Maxwell of Omaha, NE; brothers, Vill Williams Jr, of Omaha, NE and Reverend Charles (Evangeline) Williams of Jonesboro, LA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by beloved son Tracy Knox, father, Vill Williams Sr, mother, Vester Williams and grandson Derek Philmon.

We are heartbroken by the loss of such a lively, strong, elegant, generous, beautiful soul and generous force in all of our lives.

In our hearts our beloved will be missed dearly by her husband, children, family and friends but never forgotten.
