Benjamin Cano

June 15, 1937 — January 11, 2014

On Saturday, January11th, 2014 at 8:30 pm, Benjamin Cano, 76, passed away at the South Texas Veterans Health Care Systems Kerrville Transitional Care Facility. Mr. Cano was born June 15, 1937, in Laredo, Texas. He graduated from Fox Tech High School San Antonio ISD in 1955. A Vietnam Veteran, he served in the US Navy from 1956-1975. He retired from civil service in 1999. He settled in San Antonio with his family in 1972 and graduated from St. Phillips, San Antonio Community College in 1977.

He was preceded in death by his father Felix Cano,his mother Guadalupe G. Cano, sisters Blanca Casso, Noami Leos, Rosa ,his brothers Oscar and Felix Cano. He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores Sanchez Cano, children Rey Cano and wife Donna, Pamela Cano Desso, son, Felix Cano , and Cecelia and husband Mr. Alex Tapia, five grandchildren and one great grandchild, two sisters, Lydia Cano and Ruth Hawk, and his many nieces and nephews and cousins.

He enjoyed hunting, following the Dallas Cowboys football team and driving his pick-up truck. Those who were familiar with him also enjoyed his sense of humor and quick wit.
