Alyssa Casillas

Alyssa Faith Casillas, age 12, of San Antonio, earned her angle wings in the late evening hours of Monday, January 18, 2021 at Methodist Children’s Hospital in San Antonio after a hard-fought battle with Leukemia.  Alyssa was born on December 6, 2008 in San Antonio to Francisco Raul and Dora Neli Ramirez Casillas.

Alyssa was your typical little girl – full of love and full of life.  She was a talented student at J. B. Passmore Elementary School, smart and courageous.  Alyssa loved being a part of the patrol team and earned her nomination to Captain just prior to her Leukemia diagnosis.  She loved making TikTok videos and adored other children, especially her niece and nephew, Zinovia and Gianna Lopez.  Those who knew her best will always remember the love she had for her brother, Justin.  He was her role model and partner in crime.

Alyssa loved going to church and praising God.  She put her faith in his ability to heal her and praised His name to the very end.  She had dreams of becoming a Hematologist so that she could help other children facing the fight she was living.  Alyssa’s magnetic personality and willingness to fight was an inspiration to many.  She leaves behind a void in the hearts of countless people who will always remember the love she had for her God, her family and life.

Alyssa is survived by her parents Francisco and Dora Casillas; siblings, Nyomi Casillas, and husband Nate, and Justin Casillas; grandparents, Jesus and Gloria Ramirez and Maria Casillas; and by a host of uncles, aunts and other relatives and very special friends.

Funeral services for Alyssa Faith Casillas will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 22, 2021 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with her grandfather, Jesus Ramirez, officiating.  Graveside services will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park with Francisco Casillas, Jesus Ramirez, Nate Lopez, Juan Casillas, Jessie Ramirez, Jr., and Julian Gonzalez serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening, at the funeral home.
