Allan Dela Cruz Montez was born in Mabolo, Bacoor City, Cavite, Philippines, on March 3rd, 1977, to Clarita (Dela Cruz) Darling who has preceded him in death. Allan was also preceded in death by Melchor J. Dela Cruz, Lucila Espirito Dela Cruz, Thomas P. Callahan, Rodolfo Dela Cruz, Manuel Dela Cruz, and Roderick Jimenez. He had many stories of growing up in the San Francisco Bay area of California surrounded by his many aunts, uncles, and cousins before following his mom and stepdad, Joseph Darling to Corpus Christi, Texas. There he met his former wife, Shannon Callahan, whose large family embraced him with open arms. To say that Allan was the life of the party is a huge understatement. He was an excellent travel companion around the world for anyone who was lucky enough to experience his organizing, planning, and driving expertise. This was in part from his years as a big rig truck driver with several certifications. There wasn’t a person he met that he wasn’t able to communicate with on some level. Whether by his amazing passion and knowledge of sports, geography, history, Texas Hold’em skills, or just his playful childlike enthusiasm. Allan’s zeal for sports also translated into him participating in several team Tough Mudder races sponsored by the San Antonio Food Bank. Papa to Devon Callahan’s children, Xavier Soliz & Xena Rountree, and all the ‘Callahan’ cousins, he will be dearly missed and fondly remembered. After being diagnosed and fighting a very aggressive form of cancer, he went peacefully on June 17th, 2024.
